Homecoming's a Charm for NVCA
By coachcuffee
In just its second year of existence, Northern Virginia Christian Academy is beginning to build tradition. The small Fairfax school entered Friday's night clash against conference opponent Christian Faith and Fellow School in hopes of keeping a streak alive.
NVCA was undefeated in Homecoming games, and this year's version of Falcons wanted to make sure the streak didn't end with them. Behind a solid defensive effort and tremendous poise down the stretch, the Falcons held off CFFS for a 46-41 win, marking the team's first conference win of the season.
Senior captain Simon Chu, senior Chris Fricke, and Junior point guard Bobak sharifi set the tone early in the game as NVCA's press defense forced CFFS into rushed shots and turnovers. Sophomore Sam Rattray led the team in scoring with 15. Chu added 11 and Tyler Koons tossed in 10. NVCA stays home for its next game as they take on conference rival Trinity on Tuesday night.
