Fire rips through Chantilly Country Club
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to fire alarm at the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club at approximately 4:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Firefighters encountered fire and smoke coming from the roof and attic of the barn-style, 300 foot by 60-foot structure, located at 14901 Braddock Road.
Second and third alarms were requested bringing over 90 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters went inside the building to fight the fire and simultaneously cut holes through the steel roof to better ventilate the fire. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 90 minutes. Firefighters contained the fire to primarily the roof and attic area. There was extensive water and smoke damage to both floors. Administrative offices, a golf shop, and a restaurant were housed in the building. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire is under investigation.
